i came across the word viand in a book of letters written in the 17th century by an Englishwoman resident in Tripoli Libya. She was quoting the word from her dinner hosts who were Moors. Could it be that the word viand was originally moorish or arabic and travelled to Spain with the Moors conquest, then subsequently introduced into the Philippines by the Spanish
